Sagera Estates Ltd is a sisal cultivation and fibre production company with operations in the Tanga Region of Tanzania. The estate spans 3,669 hectares, including adequate area earmarked for replanting and expansion.

Since acquisition, the company has revitalised the sisal value chain, achieving an annual production of 1,400 tons and planning significant increases in the coming years. Sisal’s drought-resistant nature makes it a sustainable agricultural crop suitable for year-round planting and harvesting.

The fibre is used in diverse industries including textiles, paper, pharmaceuticals, building materials, bio-gas, and as a composite in plastics and rubber. Sagera Estates is committed to enhancing production capacity and exploring value-added applications for sisal fibre.

WHO WE ARE

Minjingu Mines and Fertiliser Limited (MMFL) is Tanzania’s leading producer of natural phosphate fertilizers, proudly manufacturing locally at the foot of the Minjingu Hills in Babati, Manyara Region. MMFL has its business in Kenya under Minjingu Mines and Fertiliser Kenya Limited. MMFL was established in 2001 to produce 300,000 metric tonnes of phosphate fertiliser per annum. Serving farmers, agro-dealers, government institutions, and agricultural development organizations across the region. MMFL mine natural phosphate rock and process it into nutrient-rich fertilisers tailored to the needs of East African soils and crops.

WHAT WE DO

Minjingu Mines and Fertiliser Limited (MMFL) extract the phosphate rock of biogenic origin formed from ancient guano deposits through conventional open-pit mining techniques, including excavators and haul trucks. The ore undergoes crushing and drying at an on-site beneficiation plant. This process separates phosphate from impurities, resulting in a powdered “beneficiated” rock phosphate.

The company extracts approximately 100,000 tonnes of phosphate processed to produce 300,000 tonnes of compound fertilizers annually. These fertilisers are distributed to over 1,000,000 farmers through a network of 300 Minjingu agro dealers across 150 districts.

We have expanded regionally with a fully established subsidiary in Kenya, enabling us to supply high-quality Minjingu fertilisers to farmers and cooperatives across borders, promoting soil health, higher yields, and sustainable agriculture.

TanzAgro Manufacturing Company Limited

TanzAgro, established in 2024, is based in Moshi, Tanzania, on an 11.81-acre site with 9,370 sq. meters of built-up facilities. We are building a state-of-the-art agrochemical manufacturing and packaging hub to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for farmers. Project implementation has begun, with commercial production and operations set to start in the first quarter of 2026. Our focus is on high-quality formulation, packaging, and distribution of agrochemicals to serve farmers and agro-dealers across East Africa and beyond.

Impact & Employment generation

We aim to create over 100 jobs in operations, marketing, and field support, while building partnerships with agricultural colleges, institutes, and research stations to drive training and skill development.

With an annual production capacity of 2,500 MT, our Copper Oxychloride unit stands as
one of the largest and most significant manufacturing facilities of its kind in East Africa
